Here come a small selection of draws and photographs of John Severson, pionneer of Surf Art. His paints are watercolor and oil, and in the 50's, he began to be interested by photography too. When you see his art, it probably reminds you Gauguin and Fauve movement, it's an assumed heritage.
 
Since more than 50 years, John Severson is the godfather of surf. More than a sport, surf became a culture, a lifestyle, thanks to John. Born in 1933, John  Severson move to California with his family in 1945. He met the ocean, his life changed. He discover surf, practice a lot, and begin to draw it, paint it. This hobby plus his talent get some echoes around, he's pretty serious about it, and become a truly ambassador, he's the first one to consider surfing as a full part activity, a new way of life.
